We Put e.l.f. Cosmetics To The Test

We were not surprised to be impressed by the iconic Power Grip Primer by e.l.f. Cosmetics, as everyone who tries it seems to be obsessed! It provides a sticky base, working almost like glue to keep makeup in place, yet somehow doesn’t feel uncomfortable or heavy.

e.l.f. just released Bronzing Drops in 3 different gold-toned shades! After putting its Pure Gold shade to the test, here are our thoughts: it provided a nice glow without being too obvious (in a good way), but alone, the formula can be tricky to work with, so we recommend using it mixed in with moisturizer, as intended.

One of e.l.f.’s most exciting new releases is its Soft Glam Satin Foundation, the first foundation the brand has released in 7 years! Can you believe it? We tested out the foundation for a few days in a row in order to develop a true opinion. Overall, it’s a great foundation. It’s easy to apply, it provides a medium buildable coverage, as it claims, and it works well with other makeup. Our only complaint is that after a full-day of wear, it did develop some creasing – which is totally natural anyway, especially with satin and matte formulas.

Listen. We’ve tried a lot of concealers over the years, high-end and drugstore, and e.l.f.’s Hydrating Camo Concealer has quickly become one of our favourites. If you’ve yet to try it, we can’t recommend it enough. It provides amazing coverage without looking cakey and truly does feel hydrating on.

Finding a great contour shade at the drugstore is not always an easy task. So when we tried this Halo Glow Contour Beauty Wand, it was like a breath of fresh air. Finally – an affordable liquid contour that’s easy to work with and looks flawless on the skin.

Often referred to as a Charlotte Tilbury dupe is e.l.f.’s Halo Glow Blush Beauty Wand! It gives a similar result to its high-end competitor, but we will say, it does require more work to build up and blend.

If you’re on the hunt for a no-fuss finishing powder that you can easily bring with you on the go, look no further than e.l.f.’s Perfect Finish HD Powder! If you have oily skin, this powder is a no-brainer; if you’re on the dry side, use it a little more sparingly, as it can feel slightly drying.

Although there are only two shades to choose from, we were thoroughly impressed by this blush! It provided the prettiest rouge glow, with little effort – and for just $4?! You can’t go wrong.

The Instant Lift Brow Pencil by e.l.f. Cosmetics is a steal, retailing for only $4! It definitely did the job; however it the pencil itself is relatively thick, making it challenging to get precise hair-like brush strokes, and the formula felt kind of waxy. The attached spoolie is a nice added touch!

This eyeshadow palette is quite literally bite-sized, which makes it great for travelling and on the go! The colours looked really pretty on, and they were easy to blend. If you want a more pigmented eye look, you’ll have to work to build it up.

We truly can’t get over how good e.l.f.’s Glow Reviver Lip Oil is! It’s a perfect dupe for Dior’s at a fraction of the cost. It feels super hydrating and leaves the lips looking perfectly glossy with a natural flush of colour.

New in is e.l.f.’s Power Grip Dewy Setting Spray! Given the overwhelming popularity of the Power Grip Primer, we were so excited to try the setting spray. Spoiler alert: We were not disappointed! The mist itself was so fine we barely felt it. Rest assured, it still left its mark with the dewy glow left behind. By the end of the day, the makeup look was still intact with just a few subtle signs of wear.
