All of the episodes for the latest season of Bridgerton are finally out, so you know how we’ve been spending our free time. The juicy plotlines in the period drama are reason enough to be enthralled by the show, but the series wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for the wardrobe. John Glaser, Bridgerton’s new lead costume designer, shared that while they respect the Regency time period, he noted, “It’s a fantasy, it’s not a history lesson.”

Naturally, we fantasized about what the Bridgertons, and their peers, might wear in the modern-day. Using dramatic sleeves, decorative embellishments, low bustlines, and pastel colours as our reference, as those are strong design elements the ladies of Bridgerton wore that remain relevant today, we’ve gathered 10 items that may just earn you the title of Diamond of the season (if the season were in 2024).

Dearest reader, here are 10 items to shop to dress like a modern-day Bridgerton:

Reformation Malvina Linen Dress

Reformation Malvina Linen Dress

The Malvina Linen Dress from Reformation shares some key elements of dresses showcased in Bridgerton, such as its square neckline, puff sleeves, lace trim, and A-line silhouette. However, its linen fabric and short hem length modernize it—which would have been quite scandalous back in the day.

Wilfred Amuse Poplin Midi Dress

Wilfred Amuse Poplin Midi Dress

As much as wearing a formal gown while playing a game of pall-mall in the grass sounds fun and all… We think the Briderton’s would be pleased to know it’s now socially acceptable to wear casual day dresses when participating in outdoor activities.

Princess Polly Amiya Maxi Dress

Princess Polly Amiya Maxi Dress

If the Bridgertons, or any other prominent family in the show for that matter, were to attend a special occasion today, this Amiya Maxi Dress from Princess Polly would definitely be a top contender. It feels regal with its velvet floral details, yet modern with its form-fitting silhouette.

Lulus Cream Floral Print Lace Bustier Top

Lulus Cream Floral Print Lace Bustier Top

Now that the Bridgerton’s would be allowed to wear pants, feminine blouses would surely become a staple piece in their wardrobe. This top from Lulus features a floral print, a bustier structure, frills in all the right places, and detailed shoulder straps – all elements that the Bridgertons appear to admire in a garment.

Dynamite Millie Linen Four Button Vest

Dynamite Millie Linen Four Button Vest

We’d like to think that the Bridgertons in modern-day would adopt some menswear-inspired garments, just as we have. Men in the show are no strangers to a vest, so it only feels natural that the women should get to enjoy the style, too!

Zara Organza Blouse With Tie

Zara Organza Blouse With Tie

Both men and women in the series can be spotted wearing tops with neckties. For men, usually under a vest, and for women, layered under a dress (specifically, Eloise comes to mind). In modern-day, a top like this Organza Blouse from Zara, could be worn on its own, styled with any bottoms.

H&M Satin Braided Handband

H&M Satin Braided Handband

Head and hair accessories were a common theme throughout Bridgerton. Especially for special occasions! Although in the 1800s (when the show takes place), the accessories of choice were very opulent, this simple yet elegant hairband should do the trick in the 2000s.

$9.99 @ H&M
Anthropologie Pearl Icon Ribbon Necklace

Anthropologie Pearl Icon Ribbon Necklace

Statement necklaces, often worn close to the neck, were almost always part of the well-thought-out ensembles worn in Bridgerton. They act as a symbol of wealth and femininity. Although statement necklaces are still relevant today, we think they would wear them slightly toned down, with a more humble approach.

Anthropologie Blossom Drop Earrings

Anthropologie Blossom Drop Earrings

Throughout the entire series, we didn’t notice a woman daring to leave the house (ahem – mansion, castle, large estate) without adorning a pair of earrings. We can totally picture these Blossom Drop Earrings in a Bridgerton’s jewellery collection, saved for special occasions.

$54 @ Anthropologie
Aldo Marylina Ballet Flat

Aldo Marylina Ballet Flat

In rare moments when you can actually see the shoes of ladies dressed in long ballgowns, ballet flats seem to be a popular shoe choice! Some appear to have a small heel, while others remain flat. Aldo’s rhinestone-studded ballet flats could easily be worn with everything from a fancy dress to, dare we say – jeans.
